The Bachelor of Science in Health Policy and Administration prepares professionals for policy analysis, governance and public administration within the health sector. The programme covers the health policy process, health law and ethics, governance and accountability, public administration, health planning and budgeting, monitoring and evaluation, health systems research, health diplomacy and global health governance, alongside the health sciences foundation needed to understand the sector. Somalia’s health-governance and health-financing challenges are treated directly through case study and applied policy analysis, and the programme culminates in an intensive fieldwork internship in Year Five together with a research project. The curriculum comprises 224 credit units, 61 courses and 4,130 contact hours.
Career opportunities. Graduates work in health ministries and regional health authorities, in policy analysis and health legislation, in monitoring and evaluation, and with non-governmental organisations, donors and United Nations agencies.
