Faculty of Medical Laboratory Sciences Overview

Mission:

• To provide high-quality education and training in medical laboratory sciences.
• To advance research and practice in diagnostic laboratory techniques and technologies.

The general objectives of the Medical Laboratory Sciences are:

1.  To train medical laboratory science practitioners who are capable of providing comprehensive health laboratory services in hospitals, 

2.  To conduct research activities in the area of clinical laboratory sciences and public health based on the existing problems and felt need of society.

3.  To participate in community services and to take an active part in solving general problems related to health.

Programs Offered

Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences

• Overview:
  • Provides foundational knowledge in medical laboratory techniques, clinical diagnostics, and laboratory management.
  • Curriculum typically includes courses in hematology, microbiology, biochemistry, immunology, and molecular diagnostics.
• Clinical Experience:
  • Hands-on training through internships and clinical rotations in hospitals and diagnostic laboratories.

Prospective students must meet the following requirements:

1. Completion of Secondary School: You must have finished secondary school with at least a 50% overall average.
2. Certificates: Submit both the original and a copy of your secondary school certificate.
3. Photographs: Provide six (6) passport-sized photos with a white background.
4. Admission Test/Interview: Pass the required admission interview and/or test.
5. Registration Fee: Pay a registration fee of  $35

The duration of the course is Five Years.

The academic year at AMU spans 16 weeks, divided into two semesters.  (14 weeks for tuition and two weeks for examinations).

The first semester starts in September.
